Views Outside Our Toasty Apartment

The moment we arrived in Anchorage, we were amazed by all the snow. It is like a winter wonderland. The guy next to us on the airplane said that they got 5 feet the other week. Last night we got 3 inches and it is still snowing. The temperatures have been pretty mild - in northern terms. Since Anchorage is on the coast, temperatures tend to be in the 20s most of the winter. At night, they will drop in the single digits. As for day light - the sun rises at 10:15 AM and it sets about 4:15 PM. It is quite strange to go out in the morning and see darkness. The pictures below were taken around 9:00 AM this morning:

It is pretty amazing but they do not salt the roads since the Moose will come up and lick it. Therefore, you have to follow the tire tracks of other cars to stay in your lane.
